Stage 1
Setting out and groundworks
The turning circle, drive edges and paths were set out with a laser level and kerbed in granite setts on a concrete haunch, so every curve was fixed before any surface went down. Paths were built on a compacted sub-base with a screeded sand bed.
Stage 2
The finished grounds
Gravel drive and kerbed turning circle with a striped lawn, block-paved paths to the courtyard, new lawns and young trees against the brick-and-flint walls, a sandstone terrace behind the outbuildings, and corten planters to finish.
